Finding out new facts!

Published by under General News

This week we have been looking at Explanation texts!

We started the week by exploring the features using Thinglink, which helped us to think about our writing today! We connected back to our Thinglinks and used what we had learnt for our remember to’s for the lesson!

Have a sneak preview of some of the introductions we have done so far! I am really impressed with the extra detail these two examples have!

I can guarantee you will learn something new if you listen!

Finding features!

Published by under General News

This morning Y6 have been looking at explanation texts! As it is our revision cycle we discussed how we had previously written this type of text and connected back to what we had learnt before!

We examined a good example and thought about all the features that Miss Woodward had used in the example- we then used Thinglink to pin point the important features we need to be using!

Take a look at some of the thinglinks below!

Who’s done it?

Published by under General News

Oh no- disaster at WCPS on a FRIDAY afternoon!
Shortly after all the children had left on Friday at 3.30pm, Miss Dring’s phone had gone missing!
She looked all over but couldn’t find it anywhere and is adamant that it was on her desk!

I wanted to help Miss Dring so I thought I would find out where a few teachers were hiding Friday between 3.30pm and 6.00pm!

Where’s it gone and who’s done it?
Further investigation will take place next week!

The EXPLOSION!

Published by under General News

This week Y6 have had an exciting independent project in Literacy!
We started the week by looking at an explosive video and it was our job to think of a suitable ending! (Take a look at the video by Zedd below)

We made such a fantastic job of our writing, that we wanted to publish them. But not only did we want to publish them but we also thought it would be good to make some suspense music that matched our writing!
We used Garage band to compose our very own music (which can be heard in the videos below!) Not only did we make our own music, we also made a puppet pal of our work and put everything together using IMovie! What a morning!

Enjoy the shows below and well done to everyone in Y6 for persevering and producing some outstanding videos!

‘Twitter’ all about it!

Published by under General News

Today all of Worsbrough Common Primary school have jetted off to South Africa!

We started the day by collecting our passports and boarding cards and had them stamped ready for take off! It was an exciting start as all year groups gathered in the immersive hall space, which actually felt like we were in the departure lounge!

Y6 then got straight on with some exciting learning!
We were all eager to learn new facts so we thought we would gather our thoughts and ‘twittered’ to each other (hash tagging the important event!)

We created our own twitter board and we are awaiting a retweet soon! πŸ˜‰
(Take a look at some of the Questions Y6 came up with and hopefully they will be answered by some children in a South African school, which we are linking up with via Skype later in the week!)

image

After our twitter flurry we looked at some interesting places found in South Africa on 360 cities.net… We used our fantastics to imagine we were actually there as we looked at some fascinating panoramic views on our 1:1 devices! Here are a few snap shots of the places we looked at…

Silent debate!

Published by under General News

This morning y6 have been very quiet… In fact too quiet for my liking!

Before the lesson began they were instructed to make as much noise as possible as they would soon have to zip their lips and let their hands do the work.

Around the room were a series of debates that everyone had to reD and think of the FOR and AGAINST reasons! Their job was to silently write down their argument giving added detail to really get their point across.

Take a look at the debates below… Do you agree or disagree with any? We would love to know what you think!
